VMOU (previously known as Kota Open University) is a state-level open university located in Kota, Rajasthan. VMOU has 7 regional centers across all the major cities of Rajasthan along with a special centre in New Delhi. VMOU Kota has been recognised by the government of Rajasthan and the UGC. VMOU provides distance education under 22 departments, 7 regional centres, and 5 schools. It offers UG, PG, PhD, Certificate, and Diploma courses in the fields of Arts, Science, Commerce, Management, Computer Science, Education, etc. Some of the popular courses at VMOU are B.Ed, MBA, MCA, BA, MA, and M.Sc.

VMOU Admission

VMOU admissions are conducted through both online and offline modes. Admission to all the UG and PG courses (except B.Ed, MBA, MCA) is done on the basis of merit in the qualifying examination. The university conducts VMOU MET and VMOU B.Ed entrance exams for admission to the MBA and B.Ed programs respectively. MCA admissions are done through an entrance examination conducted by the university.

VMOU Ph.D. admissions are based on the entrance test followed by a personal interview conducted by the university. Candidates having valid scores in NET/ SET/ GATE are exempted from the entrance test.

VMOU Application Process 2024

As the university keeps the application process in online & offline mode, it is necessary to visit the official website of the university to apply. The below steps will enlight how to proceed with the application in online mode:

  • Visit the official website of VMOU (vmou.ac.in)
  • Click on the ‘First Year/Fresh Admissions’ on the upper right corner of the website
  • Tap on the link ‘Apply Now’ and click on the ‘New User’
  • Students are required to register themselves with a valid contact number and email id and verify the registration by entering the received OTP on the given contact details
  • Enter VMOU login credentials
  • Choose the desired course and fill in the application form with adequate information
  • Upload scanned copy of photograph, signature, and required documents
  • Submit the application form and pay the required application fee

Students who want to apply offline can download or print the application form from the official website. Duly filled forms must be submitted with the payment. Payment can be made through Demand Draft in favor of VMOU.

VMOU Result

VMOU conducts semester-wise examinations for its UG and PG courses. The university releases UG and PG examination results online on its official portal. VMOU also provides the opportunity for revaluation of answer keys. Students who are not satisfied with the results can apply for revaluation by paying a required fee. VMOU results can be checked and downloaded by visiting the official website. Students who have appeared for the examinations can check the result by entering their scholar number on the result portal.

  • Scroll to the Examination tab & click on the results.
  • After clicking on the result link, you will be redirected to the result page.
  • Either you can click on your desired course link or on the detailed results.
  • Enter your scholar number & select the program.
  • Click on Submit and save & download your scorecard for future use.

VMOU Assignment

VMOU Assignment is also known as VMOU project work or Kota open university assignment, files, internal assignments. Assignments are mandatory for every course. Every student has to make and submit the assignments at the regional centre on or before the last date of assignment submission. The university has also started the facility for online submission of assignments. If a student is unable to submit the assignment, then VMOU will not release the examination results for such students. VMOU assignments can be downloaded by visiting the official website of the university.

VMOU Scholarships

VMOU offers scholarship aids for differently-abled students, this scholarship is provided by the NHFDC. Under this financial scheme, a total number of 2500 students will be provided financial assistance which covers course fees, maintenance allowance, books & stationery allowance, and aids & appliances for the students studying professional or technical degree or PG level curriculum. Candidates having an annual family income of less than INR 2.5 lakhs (for SC) and INR 1.5 lakhs (for OBC) are eligible to apply for scholarships. The application forms for VMOU scholarship can be filled online by visiting the official website of the university @vmou.ac.in. Candidates will need to submit the required documents such as proof or residence, caste certificate, and income certificate.

VMOU Facilities

  • Library: The library of VMOU is equipped with a huge stock of books, periodicals & journals. A total number of 87700 books are there. Around 8404 reference books, 2050 bound volume journals, 452 audio-video cassettes, 115 CDs of books, 381 & 25 CDs & DVDs of journals, 275 theses & dissertations. Students, teaching staff can avail these books.
  • Study Centers: The university has various study centers established so that students can opt for their desired course in their regional area. These centers contain multiple facilities for students such as Audio and Video facilities, Coordinators and other trained supervisors, Program-specific outlook, Organization of regional service units etc.
  • Student Advisory Cell: The University has a special advisory cell at its headquarters so that students can cater consultation in any need. All forms and admission documents can be availed from this cell. The cell also includes an array of promotional literature and solves all problems and grievances of students.
