The full form of M.Plan is Master of Planning. M Plan is a postgraduate-level professional degree that can be completed in 2 years. Those who have completed a bachelor’s degree in Planning, Architecture and Engineering can pursue M Plan. As the degree requires a multifaceted approach, the graduates of Economics, Geography and Sociology are also eligible to apply for the course. Many colleges offer a General M.Plan programme, however, some colleges offer the Master of Planning course with various specializations such as Urban Planning, Environmental Planning, Infrastructure Planning and Management, Housing, Regional Planning and Transportation Planning.
M.Plan can be pursued only in a regular mode of education as it is a technical course that requires practical study and hands-on learning. Most M Plan colleges offer admission to the course through the national level entrance exam GATE or other state-level exams such as TANCET. Admission through college-level admission tests or based on merit is also practiced in some colleges. M.Plan Eligibility Criteria
The eligibility criteria for the M Plan course are determined by the colleges as per government norms. It is required that the candidates should have completed their bachelor’s degree from a recognized institute. Some colleges may also consider the candidate’s Class 12 marks along with marks in graduation for M Plan admission. Final-year students are eligible to apply for the course provided the results of their final semester are declared before the admission process for the M Plan course is completed.
